About Chris Spackman

Hi, welcome to the site. My name is Chris Spackman. I am currently the ESL coordinator for an early college high school here in Columbus, Ohio.

I worked in Japan for about 13 years before coming back to the States in 2008. After earning an MA in TESOL and an Ohio K12 teaching license at Ohio Dominican University, I was lucky enough to find a job I love at The Charles School at Ohio Dominican University. August (2014) will be the start of my fifth year at TCS.

Since the summer of 2011, I have taught the TSL 570 course at ODU. TSL 570 is basically a “Tech for Teachers” course and many of my posts on this blog will be inspired by that class in some way. My goal is to help teachers better understand the tech options that they have, so they can do what they need to do better, faster, and more effectively. If I were to have a motto (for tech in teaching), it would probably be “Use the best tool for the job.” That requires that you are familiar with the tools and what they can do. Which is where I can be of some use, I hope.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you find this site useful. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or compliments, please email me at: Or, of course, you can leave a comment below.
